EXAMINATION
The professional
qualification of HKRFP provides a good credential for professionals
in the financial planning industry. The designation of HKRFP is a
symbol of high professional standard of the individual who met stringent
educational and professional experience requirements. All examinations
will be conducted on the same day in Hong Kong and China. Hong Kong
Examinations and Assessment Authority will be responsible for Hong Kong
examination administration. Universities will be selected at Beijing,
Shanghai, Hangzhou,
Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Guangsi, Wuhan and ChengDu as
examination centers for China candidates. This uniform examination will
be started from December 2004 diet. The Examinations are designed to
assess the ability of candidates to apply financial planning knowledge and
theories to practitioners work environment, thereby protecting the public by
assuring that all certificate holders are at the appropriate level of
competency.

Examination
Entry
A registered student of The
Society who has paid his current annual student fee; the required examination fees
and must have successfully completed the respective required education modules
at universities or education institutions recognized by the Society is eligible for entry to the
examinations for that specific paper. Examinations are normally held
twice a year in June and December in Hong Kong, and quarterly in China
i.e. March, June, September and December. Examination entry forms will
be sent automatically to all eligible students in advance of each diet.
If an examination is cancelled and changed, candidates will be notified
the new date and time of the examination. In such case, candidates are
not required to reregister. Applications for refund and/or transfer
of the examination fee will not be accepted.

350 per module for China candidates.

Challenge
Status
Candidates with proof of studies on acceptable
financial planning courses can be considered to sit for challenge examinations:
-
Candidates have to provide attendance
certificates of relevant course from the institutes and detailed syllabuses
for assessment.
-
The assessment fee is HK$ 600 for each
module or course.
-
The process normally takes two weeks
and candidates will be informed of the results.
-
The Examination Committee's decision
on results of evaluation is final.
Examination
Language
HKRFP Certification Examination will be offered in English and
Simplified Chinese version. The two languages of the examinations
are equivalent. Applicants are required to specify which languages they will
sit for by submitting the application form in the corresponding
language. No change of examination language will be allowed after the
examination application is received by HKRFP. English language will be
offered twice a year in June and December. Simplex Chinese will be offered four
times a year in March, June, September and December. Traditional Chinese will
NOT be offered from January 2007 at Hong
Kong.
Examination
Format
The examination format for
modules: Financial Planning, Insurance Planning, Investment Planning, Tax
Planning, and International Finance Management & Tax are in
multiple-choice questions. Candidates select one best answer from the
choices of four given. Each questions carries 1 score. Questions require
calculation and case problems will offer 2 - 3 scores. There are 75 to 100
questions carrying a total of 100 scores.
Candidates are required to
write a comprehensive financial plan on a case problem for "Best Practices
for Financial Planners" module. There will be 60% in multiple-choice
questions and 40% for the financial plan on a case problem. The purpose to
write a comprehensive financial plan is to ensure student members of the Society
are capable to deliver professional financial planning solutions to the
public.

Policy on
calculators
Candidates are allowed to
bring in their calculators into the examination center provided that
calculators are non-programmable calculators. The following calculators
are allowed for HKRFP Certification Examination: Casio FC100, FC200,
Hewlett-Packard 10BII, HP12C and Texas Instrument BA II Plus. The
examination center is not responsible for provision of calculators.

Pass Score
The pass score for the Certification Examination
is 60%.
Re-examination Policy
If the student fail the examination, he/she has to
re-sit for the failed papers. Student has to complete all examination
papers within seven years, otherwise he/she has to re-enroll for Student
membership and retake all examination papers.
